Insert Rich Text

You can add formatted rich text to embed refreshable content in a document that can be published in various areas.

IMPORTANT: Copy all syntax needed to insert rich text using Document Variable arguments directly from the Object Lookup dialog box. See Extensible Document Settings.

Microsoft PowerPoint

  1. Navigate to the Object Lookup dialog box in OneStream. This dialog box provides all the syntax needed to insert content into an extensible document. This icon can be found on the following pages under the Application tab:

    • Form Templates

    • Books

    • Cube Views

    • Workspaces

    • Data Management

  2. In the dialog box, select Extensible Document Settings. Expand Insert Content Using Office Image and then expand Rich Text. Select the line of syntax, and click the Copy to Clipboard button to copy the first string.

  3. In Microsoft PowerPoint, open a new or existing presentation, and insert an image.

  4. Right-click on the image, and select the View Alt Text option.

  5. In the Alt Text field, paste the string. The string {XF}{Application}{RichText}{RichTextContent} displays in the field. You must update the "RichTextContent" placeholder text to a specific rich text format or a parameter containing rich text to appear.

Optional: Return to the Object Lookup > Insert Content Using Office Image > Rich Text node and then copy the second string. The second string includes additional formatting options, see Rich Text in Insert Content Using Office Image.

  6. Enter your special formatting changes to use with the Rich Text. See Special Formatting Changes and Extensible Document Settings.

  7. Select File and Save As. Select a file name, and add .xfdoc extension to the name. The file name is appended with ".xfdoc.pptx".

  8. Click Save the save the file.

  9. Navigate back to OneStream, and open File Explorer. Select your folder of choice and then upload the extensible file.

  10. Right-click on the file and select "Process and Open". You may need to enter or select a parameter and then click OK. Microsoft PowerPoint will display the Rich Text content in place of the original image.
